New Change to the Conference Format

This year registration, the workshops, and District caucuses will be held on Sunday, April 6. The conference’s opening session will begin on the morning of Monday, April 7. Please note this is a change from last year’s format.

Registration and Materials Distribution -- Conference materials will be distributed to all pre-registered delegates on Sunday, March 25th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Regency Foyer of the Hyatt Regency Hotel.  Also during this time, we will register anyone wishing to attend the conference who did not pre-register.  Late arrivals may register on Monday, March 26th, after 7:30 a.m. in the Bunker Hill Room.

Hotel Registration

We will again use only the Hyatt Regency Hotel, located at 400 New Jersey Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20001. The cutoff date for hotel registration is February 26. The room rate is $236 per night plus taxes. You may book your personal hotel room either:

by calling the Hyatt Regency direct at 202.737.1234 or calling the Hyatt Hotels Central Reservations at 800.233.1234

After February 26, the room rate reverts to the higher customary rate and rooms are subject to availability. Room cancellations must be received by the hotel no later than 24 hours the day prior to arrival for refund of deposit.

Important:  The cutoff date for reservations is February 20, 2007.  After this date reservations will be accepted based on availability only.

Congressional Reception

This year’s Congressional Reception will be held the evening of Tuesday, April 8, 2008, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the Regency Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Tickets are $80. Each delegate registered for the reception will receive one ticket. No one will be permitted to enter or participate in the reception without a ticket.

I have invited all Members of Congress to the reception. Nonetheless, conference delegates are encouraged to send a letter personally inviting your Senators and Representatives to attend either the reception or alternatively the Wednesday morning breakfast.

Setting Up Appointments

Delegates should call or write their Senators and Representatives as soon as possible, telling them when they will be in Washington and requesting an appointment.

You may want to give them several meeting times. You should send a letter or call your Senators and Representatives as soon as possible but no later than February 8, 2007.

Congressional schedules fill up quickly and this year the AFL-CIO Building and Construction Trades will be in town for their Legislative Conference at the same time.  To ensure that you are able to meet with your Senator and Representative personally, I urge you to request appointments early.
