CWA Local President Marcus Courtney Testifies Before Congress
The House Ways and Means Committee held a hearing entitled Promoting Worker Competitiveness on June 14th. The focus of the hearing was what must be done to make the Trade Adjustment Assistance program (TAA) more relevant to the 21st century workforce. TAA is a federal program that helps workers who are displaced by trade by providing financial, healthcare and education assistance.

The United States Trade Representative (USTR), Susan Schwab, refuses to release the text of the Korean Free Trade Agreements (KORUS). USTR submitted the KORUS even though some major points have not been addressed as of yet. The portions of the agreement that is available have been held under lock and key for over a month now.
